I can’t pinpoint exactly when I began using the term “food curious” in every other sentence, but over time, it became the perfect way to describe my approach to the culinary world.
Food Curious evolved into a way to express who I am and how I perceive food.
Nothing in my life has ever been straightforward, and I soon realized that this complexity deeply influenced my cooking.

My culinary style became a curious, hyphenated cuisine, much like my own hyphenated identity—born to immigrant parents, with an Egyptian father, a Syrian mother, born in Greece, holding French citizenship, and shaped by influences from all over the world.
I’ve never seen the world in black and white, and the same goes for food.
Instead, I’ve immersed myself in an insatiable curiosity to learn as much as possible. The more I learned, the more I began connecting the dots, realizing that understanding a single ingredient could reveal so much about the world we live in.

Take any ingredient, and you’ll discover something new about history, culture, nature, the environment, chemistry, physics, economics, health—even theology and spirituality! Some ingredients carry auspicious or religious significance in various parts of the world.
Food Curious helps highlight the incredible diversity on this planet—perhaps even more so in plant-based cuisine. Through this vibrant palette of infinite ingredients, we connect the dots, realizing that our favorite ingredient links us to someone halfway across the globe whom we’ve never met. Somehow, this ingredient has traveled from one place to another, through a journey marked by pain, love, and resilience.
In this truth, we learn that despite our differences, we are more connected and similar than we think. Just like the ingredients we cook with, all of us experience pain and love through our own journeys of resilience.
This is why cooking and exploring food have become some of the most beautiful experiences of my life.
#StayFoodCurious—life is richer and more textured that way!
